A Trip to see the Ducklings at Arundel Wetland Centre

Arundel Wetlands Centre

I grew up in West Sussex, not far from the beautiful town of Arundel. I have fond memories of travelling up the River Arun, stopping off at the Black Rabbit for lunch, charging around Swanbourne Lake and visiting the Arundel Wetlands Centre in the hope of spotting my favourite ducks. We last visited the Wetland Centre in August 2015, but we have been itching to return to see the ducks in all their colours and hopefully some ducklings too. Arundel Wetlands Centre is home to exotic ducks, rare geese and water voles. Make sure you go armed with some 20p’s… Continue Reading “A Trip to see the Ducklings at Arundel Wetland Centre”

Easter Fun at Lulworth Castle

Due to Hubby’s line of work he doesn’t get any time off over the Easter break, apart from Easter Sunday, so I planned a day out that wasn’t too far away. Having heard Corfe Castle advertised on the radio, Isaac really wanted to go however as we hit the Wareham Road it was gridlocked and barely moving under the sheer weight of traffic so I made an executive decision and headed for Lulworth Castle as the kids had so much fun there last Easter. The journey to onto Lulworth was surprisingly clear and the kids initial disappointment was soon replaced… Continue Reading “Easter Fun at Lulworth Castle”

Bel & The Dragon, Odiham – Review

Bel & the Dragon

It is Isaac’s birthday this month and a few weeks ago he asked if we could go to Legoland to celebrate. Now a stay at the Legoland Hotel was out of our reach so we looked into alternative options and Bel & the Dragon in Odiham, Hampshire stood out from the start. Bel & The Dragon is a Grade II-listed former inn with features dating as far back as 1540 and from the moment you walk in the door you are made to feel at home. The 15th Century building retains many of its original features but has been renovated… Continue Reading “Bel & The Dragon, Odiham – Review”

Cadbury’s Great British Egg Hunt at Kingston Lacy

Kingston Lacy

Last week I told you all about the Cadbury’s Great British Egg Hunt for this year and yesterday we took part in the one at Kingston Lacy in Dorset. Kingston Lacy is one of our favourite National Trust properties. Not only is the house a treasure of artwork and all things exotic but the huge grounds are perfect for letting kids roam until their hearts content. There is a huge manicured lawn with statues to clamber on, as well as stunning flower beds full of colourful flowers. There are trails to follow, ponds to admire and even a play area… Continue Reading “Cadbury’s Great British Egg Hunt at Kingston Lacy”

Our stay at the Hilton Leicester #StayPlayExplore

Hilton Leicester

Last week I wrote a post about what we got up to on our Stay, Play, Explore break in Leicestershire, but what was the accommodation like? As part of the Stay, Play, Explore package, we stayed at the Hilton in Leicester as it is an excellent base for exploring the attractions and landmarks of this city. The hotel is comfortable and modern and as a family travelling with 3 children, our room was large enough for us all with two queen size beds and a double sofa bed. This room was bright and airy and cam with a 32-inch plasma TV… Continue Reading “Our stay at the Hilton Leicester #StayPlayExplore”
