A Trip to Birmingham to see Ed Sheeran at the Barclaycard Arena

My husband isn’t really the romantic type, but every now and then he does something to surprise me. For my 40th birthday it was a hot air balloon flight but other than the occasional meal out we have not done anything as a couple for quite some time. Back at the end of January I dropped as many hints as is humanly possible for him to book tickets to see Ed Sheeran as I was working on the release date, but, like many disappointed fans he told me that he just couldn’t get through. Fast forward a week and he randomly… Continue Reading “A Trip to Birmingham to see Ed Sheeran at the Barclaycard Arena”

Wonderland the Musical – Review

Wonderland Landscape

Last week we were invited to the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton to see Wonderland the Musical. Hubby and I love our musicals but had not heard of this one before, so were unsure what to expect, but we certainly were not disappointed. If you book tickets to go and see Wonderland, do not expect the original tale of Alice in Wonderland. The musical follows Alice, a 40-year-old divorced mum of one, who has fallen on hard times and doesn’t want to live in the real world anymore. Alice is living in the past and devastated that her ex-husband is getting… Continue Reading “Wonderland the Musical – Review”

A Segway Tour of Upton Country Park

Dorset Segway

Ever since we did a Forest Segway Tour with Go Ape we have been itching to do another, so when I spotted a groupon offer for Dorset Segway Tours I just had to snap it up. Dorset Segway’s operate at Upton Country Park in Poole and have a free rein to explore the magnificent grounds which includes the shoreline of Holes Bay, the neatly manicured lawns, the Grove woodland area and stopping for some photo’s by Upton House itself. You start with a safety briefing and a few laps around the training area where you learn to stop, start and steer… Continue Reading “A Segway Tour of Upton Country Park”

Forest Segway Experience with Go Ape!

Go Ape Segway

How do you fancy getting off the beaten track for an hour of fun with a Forest Segway Experience from Go Ape? Kian finally finished his GCSE’s this week which means he no longer has to go to school and we were keen to give him an experience he would enjoy after all his hard work in the past few weeks. Back in March we visited Go Ape at Moors Valley to take part in their Tree Top Adventure. Whilst we were walking through the trees and hurtling down the ziplines we saw a group out on Segways and all remarked… Continue Reading “Forest Segway Experience with Go Ape!”

A Birthday Meal at NEO Restaurant Bournemouth

When Hubby asked me where I wanted to go for a birthday meal, I reeled off all the previous restaurants we had been to but we both agreed we wanted to be a little more adventurous and try somewhere new. But where? Hubby asked around at work and one restaurant stood out above the rest – NEO! Set in a huge glass building opposite Bournemouth Pier, NEO Restaurant has been open just two months and looks spectacular with 180° of floor to ceiling windows which offer views over Bournemouth Garden, the Pier and the beach. On the downstairs of the building… Continue Reading “A Birthday Meal at NEO Restaurant Bournemouth”

Practically Perfect in Every Way!

Mary Poppins

It is not often that Hubby and I get out without the children but when we do it is something we make the most of. For Mother’s Day this year the kids (aka Hubby) bought tickets to go and see Mary Poppins the musical which is touring the country at the moment and has made a stop at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre. I adore the film and couldn’t wait to see how they transported all my favourite songs from TV to stage and was not disappointed. In fact both Hubby and I were blown away by the amazing performances by Zizi… Continue Reading “Practically Perfect in Every Way!”

Up, Up and Away with Virgin Balloon Flights

Balloon Flight

For years going up in a Hot Air Balloon was top of my bucket list and I dropped so many hints to Hubby about it that he completely ignored that I thought it was something I would have to book myself. Finally for my 40th birthday he bought us the opportunity to go up in a Hot Air Balloon with Virgin Balloon Flights and I couldn’t wait to book a date. I wouldn’t normally start a post with a negative but I have to admit that I found the whole booking process frustrating, although it is no fault of Virgin… Continue Reading “Up, Up and Away with Virgin Balloon Flights”

A Romantic Zip for Two!

#PierZip

Back in December we were invited to have a night off by Mamas and Papas and enjoy an evening out on them as part of their #MandPNightOff campaign. We were booked to do the Zip Line on Bournemouth Pier followed by dinner at Aruba, but sadly the weather had other ideas and the Zip Line had to be postponed. The Pier Zip on Bournemouth Pier is the world’s first pier to shore zip wire experience with a launch tower towering high above the sea, giving an exhilarating “zip surf” over the waves to the beach. Climb the Launch Tower which reaches a… Continue Reading “A Romantic Zip for Two!”

Learning to bake at River Cottage

River Cottage

I am not a big cook if I am honest. I make a mean Bailey’s Cheesecake, Lemon Drizzle cake and Gingerbread men, but since having Eliza and Sebastian I found I didn’t have time to bake, but now Eliza is at school full-time I intend to start again. Yesterday I attended Blog Camp at River Cottage organised by the team at Tots100 and one of the sessions was a workshop where we learned to make our own butter and soda bread. I have to admit I was really nervous as most of the other bloggers attending the event were proper… Continue Reading “Learning to bake at River Cottage”

Crowne Plaza Hotel, Colchester Review

Crowne Plaza Hotel Colchester

Our trip to stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Colchester had been booked for over a year and after some initial trepidation of leaving the children in their sister’s care for a weekend we were very excited about having a child-free weekend for Hubby’s best friends wedding – something we had not had for well over two years. We had a nightmare journey to Essex. Our satnav reported a journey of just under three hours but it took us five and a half thanks to roadworks on the M3 and Friday traffic on the M25, so when we finally… Continue Reading “Crowne Plaza Hotel, Colchester Review”
