Zoorassic Park at ZSL London Zoo

Regular readers of my blog will know that Sebastian is dinosaur mad and when we heard that dinosaurs were invading ZSL London Zoo, we knew we had to visit. Between 22nd July to 3rd September, visitors the zoo are whisked back in time to Zoorassic Park a prehistoric world where you can come face to face with life-size, moving dinosaurs. The kids picked up a fun passport style trail to complete before entering the time-travelling tunnel which took us back to the Mesozoic era (about 65 million years ago, give or take a few days). We emerged from the tunnel… Continue Reading “Zoorassic Park at ZSL London Zoo”

Aladdin – Sheer Genie-Us!

Aladdin

Hubby is getting better a picking up hints now and it only took a couple of mentions about how much I wanted to see Aladdin for him to buy us tickets for my birthday. We headed into London mid-afternoon and had a wander around Covent Garden, watching some of the performers swallowing balloons, riding unicycles and singing and stopping for a bite to eat before heading to the Prince Edward Theatre which is just North of Leicester Square on Old Compton Street. The theatre itself is stunning and has an upstairs bar where you can sit outside on the balcony… Continue Reading “Aladdin – Sheer Genie-Us!”

Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!

Matilda the Musical

Hubby has been hinting that he wanted to see Matilda the Musical for quite some time, so for Christmas I bought us tickets to go and see it at the Cambridge Theatre in London. Apart from the fact that we got a little lost trying to find it, we arrived in plenty of time, getting to take in all the nods to the popular Roald Dahl book throughout the theatre. It was the stage that provided the real “Wow” factor though, as it was covered from floor to ceiling in hundreds of books, spelling out words from the story. Matilda… Continue Reading “Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!”

A Day Out in London with a visit to Sky Garden

During half term we were invited to the Mondrian Hotel for a special Skylanders Academy screening. The screening itself took just a couple of hours, leaving us with plenty of time to explore some of the sights that London has to offer. A few weeks ago we took a sightseeing trip along the Thames with City Cruises and during the onboard commentary they mentioned that there was a FREE alternative to The Shard, where you could see London from above – Sky Garden in Fenchurch Street, affectionately know as the Walkie Talkie. It is important that you book your tickets in… Continue Reading “A Day Out in London with a visit to Sky Garden”

#BrickorTreat at Legoland this half term week

Brick or treat

Last weekend we took our little monsters to LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort and found ourselves getting into the Halloween spirit with their #BrickorTreat event! They had lots of fun spook-tacular activities in the enchanted forest with a fun spooky walk though mist, hay bales and LEGO® characters. There were lots of fun activities on offer including the chance to build your own LEGO® or DUPLO® pumpkin for the giant pumpkin patch, helping to build a huge Monster Mosaic and a spooky colouring tent. Of course, no visit to Legoland Windsor would be complete without trying out some of the rides. Isaac… Continue Reading “#BrickorTreat at Legoland this half term week”

A Visit to the Tower of London

Tower of London

A few weeks ago we were invited to review a City Cruises trip along the Thames and we decided to make the most of the trip to London by visiting some of the tourist attractions. Isaac has been asking to visit the Tower of London for ages and as the City Cruise stopped there I decided to surprise him with a visit. What I hadn’t realised is that Hubby had never been either and I am not sure who was more excited. The boys were super excited to meet a Yeoman Warder (popularly known as ‘Beefeaters’) at the entrance and although they… Continue Reading “A Visit to the Tower of London”

The Shark Hotel at Thorpe Park Review

The Shark Hotel at Thorpe Park Review

The Shark Hotel at Thorpe Park is situated inside the resort itself and sits on the banks of an unexpectedly serene lake and is the perfect crash pad for thrill seekers who want two days of fun at the theme park. A large model shark greets guests at reception and rooms are accessed via its mouth. Checking in took more time than it needed to in my opinion however we were given all the information that we needed about access to the park and wristbands that would give us fast track access to the rides between 9am and 11am the… Continue Reading “The Shark Hotel at Thorpe Park Review”

Holiday Inn Camden Lock Review

Holiday Inn Camden

Last weekend I had a child-free evening at the Holiday Inn at Camden Lock where I was attending the Britmums Fringe Party before staying the night and heading to Britmums Live the following day. The Fringe Party was held in the stunning Glasshouse at the hotel, which is a gorgeous space with tall windows overlooking the lock. We arrived slightly later than planned thanks to London traffic and a confused satnav and found the room full of some of my favourite blogging friends. It was lovely to catch up friends old and new as we helped ourselves to complimentary drinks… Continue Reading “Holiday Inn Camden Lock Review”
