On the bucket list – Visiting Thailand

In the next of my bucket list posts I have chosen Thailand as the place I dream of visiting as many of my friends have been and raved about the stunning beaches, beautiful temples, bustling cities and vibrant night life. I am a sucker for the beach and the islands off the coast of Thailand are famous throughout the world for their beautiful beaches and gorgeous scenery. Ko Phi Phi is top of my list as it was made famous by the movie “The Beach” and I would love to brush up my scuba diving skills at Ko Tao which… Continue Reading “On the bucket list – Visiting Thailand”

Backyard Travel – What is on your Doorstep?

Canford Heath

I love living in Dorset as we are just a few minutes from the beach, New Forest and spectacular countryside that stretches as far as the eye can see. We are often out and about exploring everything our county has to offer, but what is on our doorstep? We live in a semi-rural location, with farmland that joins onto the side of the school field and are often greeted by horses on the school run, but as we are not dog walkers we have only taken a stroll up the path that leads onto Canford Heath a handful of times, despite… Continue Reading “Backyard Travel – What is on your Doorstep?”

A Visit to Sri Lanka

As I child I took abroad holidays for granted as we were lucky enough to go away a couple of times a year, but one of my first holiday memories where I really appreciated the time away was when we visited the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a tiny island nation in the Indian Ocean. It is a rugged land of rainforest, diverse wildlife and endless beaches. It’s famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins, including the 5th-century citadel Sigiriya, with its palace and frescoes, and the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Its flavourful cuisine reflects its history as… Continue Reading “A Visit to Sri Lanka”

Beach Fun and Culture in Mexico

I was lucky enough to visit Mexico as a child when we visited the border town of Tijuana just south of California. I don’t remember much of our visit apart from the bustling main street which was lined with souvenir shops and most randomly a C&A which I had not expected to see and still sticks in my memory. Three decades on, Mexico is a place I would love to revisit and see more of what delights it has to offer and you can now fly there from airports all over the UK and Ireland. Top of my thrill seeking list… Continue Reading “Beach Fun and Culture in Mexico”

Bournemouth Film & Comic Con March 2016

Bournemouth Film and Comic Con

Bournemouth Film & Comic Con took over Bournemouth International Centre last weekend and we were lucky enough to visit. We first went to Bournemouth Film & Comic Con back in August 2015 and had no idea what to expect, but as we now had one under our belt we had a better idea of what would be happening. Our favourite bit of the Film and Comic Con was seeing everyone in their cosplay and the kids were desperate to dress up too, so I took along Isaac as Doctor Who (he was nicknamed Tiny Ten on the day) and Eliza was… Continue Reading “Bournemouth Film & Comic Con March 2016”
