Fun things to do in Dorset this Bank Holiday

Knob Throwing Festival

This Bank Holiday weekend is probably my favourite one of the year and we look forward to it every year as our home county of Dorset really know how to put together a good festival. The Lyme Regis Fossil Festival is an annual event for the whole family which runs from Friday 29th April to Sunday 1st May. The Festival seeks to enthuse young people about science, earth sciences in particular and there is plenty to do for the whole family with walks, talks, theatre, music, comedy, exhibits and lots of hands-on science. Meet and chat to scientists from the Natural… Continue Reading “Fun things to do in Dorset this Bank Holiday”

3 Fun Festivals for all the Family on the South Coast

Camp Bestival

I have to admit that I never did festivals as a teenager but hubby loved going to events such as V-Festival to see all the big acts. He always swore I would hate festivals due to the crowds and lack of facilities and often regales stories of flying bottles of urine etc, but there is a happy medium where the behaviour is always much calmer – the Family Festival. This year will be our 4th year going to Camp Bestival and we cannot wait. It is a festival that is jam-packed full of activities for young, old and somewhere in… Continue Reading “3 Fun Festivals for all the Family on the South Coast”

The Olde House – Cornwall

Hazel Cottage

During the Easter holidays we were supposed to be staying at The Olde House in Cornwall, but our car broke down just 40 minutes from our final destination and we never made it. The Olde House is a collection of 30 self-catering holiday cottages (3- to 5-star) on a 550-acre working farm near the north coast in Cornwall. It is a family run business that recently won Gold at the South West Tourism Awards and is just a stone’s throw from the fishing villages of Padstow and Port Isaac. Situated in the pretty village of Chapel Amble, their family cottages are… Continue Reading “The Olde House – Cornwall”
