Scotland

Looking back over 2017 has made me realise just how far we have travelled and the fun we have had along the way. As a blogger I always find it fascinating to see what posts are the most popular with my readers and I have to say there are a few surprises in there for me. Here are my most popular posts of 2017: 1. 10 Reasons to Buy a Merlin Annual Pass this January Written back in January this was very popular then and has surged up the charts again in December as people make a decision whether to… Continue Reading “Top 20 Most Visited Posts of 2017”

Our Travel Highlights of 2017

Santas Office

What a year 2017 has been! It has been a year of anticipation as I booked our dream holiday to Santa’s Lapland all the way back at the end of 2015 and have had to keep it a secret for over a year, which was not easy. But let’s go back to the beginning of the year where we started our travels with a week in Scotland. We stayed in a delightful cottage with Newton Farm Holidays in Angus and had an amazing week, exploring as much of the country as we could. Our holiday cottage was a short drive… Continue Reading “Our Travel Highlights of 2017”

Day 3 – Our Final Day at Santa’s Lapland

Saariselka

The final day of our visit to Santa’s Lapland was a nice relaxing day in comparison to the busyness of the Search for Santa day the previous day. Check-out time at the Saariselkä Inn is 10am, so we got up, dressed and packed everything up before we had breakfast so we could make the most of the time we had left. We had been given a coach time of mid-afternoon and were able to leave our cases at the pub, where we have breakfast, where they would be looked after until it was time to leave. The first thing on our… Continue Reading “Day 3 – Our Final Day at Santa’s Lapland”

Northern Lights Adventure with Santa’s Lapland

Northern Lights Tour

Seeing the Northern Lights is top of my bucket list, so when we discovered that you can take part in a Northern Lights Safari when we were staying at Santa’s Lapland we couldn’t pass up on the opportunity. We booked it for after our Search for Santa Day which mean’t we had to leave that slightly earlier (3.30pm), but we had made sure we packed everything in that we wanted to do. It is dark in Lapland by 3.30pm, so the tour departs by coach from the Holiday Club at 4.30pm. We did chuckle that the coach drove us two… Continue Reading “Northern Lights Adventure with Santa’s Lapland”

#Win £100 worth of BOGS° boots

Bogs Footwear

Back in November we reviewed BOGS° Footwear, which are fantastic insulated waterproof boots. Before now, the problem with ordinary wellies is that in cold weather, it is tricky to keep the kids feet warm and we always end up wearing several pairs of socks which can feel bulky and uncomfortable. BOGS° boot range is 100% waterproof and winter-ready with 7mm Neo-Tech insulation rated to -30F that will keep feet toasty warm come rain, sleet or snow. We took ours to Lapland with us and with temperatures reaching -17°C at one point, never did anyone complain that their feet were cold. In… Continue Reading “#Win £100 worth of BOGS° boots”

Searching for Santa at Santa’s Lapland

Searching for Santa at Santa's Lapland

Day two of our three-day trip to Saariselkä was our Search for Santa day. We were given our coach times the day before we left and we were one of the first to arrive for our day that promised to be packed full of fun. Tucked in our pockets were our magic tickets (the kids letters to Santa, that we had “posted” a few weeks previously) and the timings for our husky rides, the only set time given on the day. The rest of the day we could do whatever took our fancy. We arrived to a covering of fresh snow… Continue Reading “Searching for Santa at Santa’s Lapland”
