Shrek The Musical at The Mayflower Southampton Review

Shrek the Musical

There is something about Shrek that captures the hearts of almost anyone who watches the film and I remember the DVD’s being watched constantly on repeat when my older ones were little. Now, there is a new bunch of fans in our household, who not only love the film but also love Shrek’s Adventure in London, so when I heard that Shrek the Musical was heading back out on tour and coming to the Mayflower in Southampton I just had to get tickets. SHREK THE MUSICAL® is based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek! and the… Continue Reading “Shrek The Musical at The Mayflower Southampton Review”

Learning Fun at We the Curious Science Centre in Bristol

Hearing Test We the Curious

All the way back in 2015 we spent a day in Bristol and enjoyed an afternoon at their science centre, then called @Bristol. The kids loved it so much, they have been asking to go back ever since. With Kian now at university in Bristol, we have the perfect excuse to visit the vibrant city more often, so headed West to take the kids to see their big brother for the weekend and their first request was to head back to the science centre, now called We the Curious. Visiting the Palace of Versailles with kids

During our visit to La Croix du Vieux Pont with Al Fresco holidays in half term, we made the most of our week with visits to the City of Paris, Disneyland and Parc Asterix. After three days of theme parks, we decided to finish the week with a little more culture by visiting the Palace of Versailles. We weren’t keen on driving in Paris, but luckily the route to Versailles was fairly straight forward and avoided the city centre. The roads around Versailles themselves are very quaint and there is a handy carpark directly outside the palace, costing €16 per day. What we… Continue Reading “Visiting the Palace of Versailles with kids”

A half term visit to Paris

Arc De Triomphe

Back in September I decided to make myself a travel bucketlist of 50 places to visit as I creep towards the grand old age of 50. One of those locations was Paris and during our Al Fresco holiday to La Croix du Vieux Pont in half term, I finally got to visit the city that has been eluding me for years. Having driven from Caen to the campsite, we weren’t that confident about driving in Paris as even the outskirts were a little hair-raising, so we decided to book the coach tour that they offer, which drops you at the Palais… Continue Reading “A half term visit to Paris”

Halloween Fun at Parc Asterix

Asterix Gaul

Over October half term we stayed just outside Paris with Al Fresco Holidays at La Croix du Vieux Pont. When visiting Paris, there is one theme park that is always top of the list of must-visits – Disneyland Paris, but let me introduce you to another option – Parc Asterix. If you have not heard of Asterix, he is one of the most beloved characters in French popular culture. He resides in a remote Gaulish village in the middle of the Roman Empire, with his best friend, Obelix and a series of humorous comics portray him as a diminutive but fearless… Continue Reading “Halloween Fun at Parc Asterix”
