An Easter stay at Talfan Cottage

Talfan Cottage

Being a large family, when we travel we prefer the convenience of staying in a holiday cottage rather than a hotel as it gives us the space to relax without getting under each others feet. During our holiday to North Wales we stayed in a beautiful barn conversion, Talfan Cottage, in Anglesey, not far from the famous town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. There was a real “Wow” moment when we walked through the door, as the cottage is simply stunning, with the kitchen being our favourite room in the house. They really have thought of everything with this kitchen design. It has… Continue Reading “An Easter stay at Talfan Cottage”

Horrible Histories – Terrible Tudors at Mayflower Southampton

hh-tudors-pressshot

If there is one show that sparks the interest of all three kids, it has to be Horrible Histories. Fresh from seeing the Horrible Histories Pirates exhibition at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, tonight we went to see Horrible Histories: Terrible Tudors at the Mayflower, Southampton. Horrible Histories on stage is brought to life by the brilliant Birmingham Stage Company and we got a fantastically enjoyable history lesson from Dr Dee and his pupils Drab and Dross who take on the roles of all of the key characters. Despite being just three of them on stage, they had the kids transfixed by… Continue Reading “Horrible Histories – Terrible Tudors at Mayflower Southampton”

The Amazing Bubble Man at Lighthouse Poole

Bubble Man

Most kids love bubbles – FACT!! Mine love nothing more than heading outside to the garden and challenge each other to make the biggest bubble they can. When I heard that the Amazing Bubble Man, Louis Pearl, was bringing his show to Lighthouse Poole, I was intrigued by how he was going to make blowing bubbles into a show. Ably assisted by the brilliant musician, Jet Black Pearl, the show features art, magic, science, audience participation and oddles of bubble fun. Louis explores the breathtaking dynamics of bubbles, combining comedy and artistry with audience participation and enough spellbinding bubble tricks… Continue Reading “The Amazing Bubble Man at Lighthouse Poole”

Climbing Mount Snowdon with Kids

Isaac Snowdon

Back in September last year I wrote my 50 places to visit before I hit the big 5-0, with number 4 on the list being climbing Mount Snowdon, which stands at 1,085 m (3,560 ft), making it the highest mountain in Wales, and the highest point in the British Isles outside Scotland. Last week we headed to North Wales and stayed in a beautiful cottage in Anglesey, which is only a short drive from Snowdonia, so now was my chance to tick it off my list. We have been on family walking holidays to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales,… Continue Reading “Climbing Mount Snowdon with Kids”

Exploring Caernarfon Castle with Kids

Caernarfon Castle

Caernarfon is one of the most famous castle in Wales and is somewhere I have wanted to visit for some time. During our holiday to North Wales, we stayed in a beautiful cottage in Anglesey which is a short drive from the town of Caernarfon, so we had the perfect opportunity to visit. Caernarfon is a walled town, making it a beautiful walk as you head towards the castle itself. Caernarfon Castle is looked after by Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, but as English Heritage members we got discounted entry to the castle. Entry to the castle is… Continue Reading “Exploring Caernarfon Castle with Kids”

Zip World Velocity 2

Zip World Velocity 2 and Statue

Way back in 2015, Hubby and Kian visited North Wales and took on the challenge of Zip World Titan, a four person zip line which offers spectacular views over moor, mountain and mine and encompasses three separate zip lines – Anarchy, Bedlam and Chaos. Ever since they have been dropping hints left, right and centre about taking on Zip World’s Velocity 2 – The Fastest Zip Line in the World. Velocity 2 is not only the fastest zip line in the world, with speeds up to 125mph, but it is also the longest in Europe at 1,555 metres long and… Continue Reading “Zip World Velocity 2”
