Honeybrook Farm – Wimborne

January 3, 2019

The Christmas break has fallen at a really odd time this year, with the kids breaking up late and not going back to school until 8th January.

Normally we have a full week off before Christmas which we pack full of festive fun, but having the extra week at the start of January this year means finding things to entertain the kids has been trickier.

Thankfully, Honeybrook Farm in Wimborne, which is under new management, made the decision to stay open until the kids go back to school and today we headed over for a blast around the park.

The kids headed straight for the giant airbag before heading off to explore the huge adventure playground.

Honeybrook Farm has plenty of activities to occupy all ages and Isaac and Eliza were soon racing to the top of the climbing frame, whilst Sebby preferred to stick to the slides.

Sebby is getting braver though and after a bit of encouragement, he decided he wanted to join Isaac up high.

Climbing up wasn’t much of an issue, but lets just say getting down again was a little more challenging and ending up with me playing catch!!

Although some of the park isn’t currently open, such as the new miniature railway, there was plenty for the kids to do and they loved racing the go-karts around the track or cheekily hitching a ride when their legs got tired.

The tractor rides, currently looking more like Santa’s sleigh were also running for an extra charge of £1.50 per person.

Mine were more content with making their own fun though and were happily making up their own worlds, racing between houses and having such a blast I literally could not drag them away.

I took a picnic lunch for us to enjoy, but the cafe is open and serves a variety of hot and cold food and drinks, so I treated us all to a hot chocolate to help us all warm up when the temperature dropped.

Animal wise, we got to see donkey’s, pigs, chickens, sheep and alpaca whilst we were there – a cheeky hen even tried to pinch my lunch!!

Honeybrook Farm is set in 84 acres of river meadows which are absolutely stunning in spring and summer, offering the chance to see a huge variety of wildlife including kingfisher and dragonflies. There is a set pathway to follow which takes around 20 minutes to walk around and although not currently lush and green, it still has a certain beauty about it.

There is also an indoor play barn to enjoy if the weather turns, or you just need to warm up.

Honeybrook Farm will be open until 8th of January from 10.30am to 4.30pm daily, with under 2 year olds free, Toddlers (2-3 years old) -£3 and over 3 years old/adults – £4, plus, if your child got a new bike for Christmas, they can have FREE entry to use the safe farm environment to learn to ride it.

You’re lucky to live in a country and location where there are things like this to entertain small children. WE only have malls!

That’s such a great idea to keep Honeybrook Farm open, my folks have struggled keeping me occupied as they’ve been taking turns working over the Christmas Limbo, its easy to get cabin fever! Love all the activities they did!

Are we nearly there yet? is a new online blog run by me, Kara Guppy, and is named as such thanks to my daughter Eliza who always asks that very question when we are less than 5 minutes up the road heading off on our adventures. You may know me from my other family blog chelseamamma.co.uk
