A Family Feastival with Fore Adventure

Family Feastival

We have been fans of Fore Adventure for five years now, having enjoyed a day coasteering with them for Kian’s 13th birthday and several kayaking trips to Old Harry Rocks and a learning to paddle board session since. Fast forward to the present day and it is lovely to see them adding new events to their calendar and last weekend we joined them for their family feastival. Held at the Discovery Centre on Knoll Beach, set in woodland just 300 yards from the sea in Studland, the mini festival was a combination of foraging, feasting, bushcraft, wild art and more. At arrival… Continue Reading “A Family Feastival with Fore Adventure”

Our Top Ten Tips for surviving the heat at a Festival

Camp Bestival

Last year we experienced our very first wet Camp Bestival and I wrote a post with my top tips for beating the rain at a festival. This year we had the opposite problem. We have had a glorious 6 weeks of heatwave conditions here in Dorset, with little to no rain, which brings its own set of problems. We arrived at Camp Bestival on Thursday morning on the hottest day of the year (so far) ready to do battle with the hills and find the perfect position to pitch. Top Tips for surviving a heatwave at a festival 1. Tent… Continue Reading “Our Top Ten Tips for surviving the heat at a Festival”

#Win a Family Ticket to Camp Bestival

camp bestival

One of the highlights of our year is heading to Camp Bestival on the Dorset coast. This year, it’s festi-holiday frolics ahoy with the theme of Camp Bestival sets sail and I have already made a start on our nautical costumes and ideas for our trolley. Camp Bestival is based at Lulworth Castle from the 26th to the 29th July 2018 and is a family festival like no other, brimming with incredible spectacles, joyous music, amazing food, luxury camping and tons of fun for all the family. The line-up certainly does not disappoint this year with headliners: Friday – Rick Astley, Saturday – Clean Bandit and… Continue Reading “#Win a Family Ticket to Camp Bestival”

My Top Ten Tips for beating the rain at a Festival

This year was our 5th at Camp Bestival in Dorset. Being Dorset residents, we often boast of our own mini-microclimate and any bad weather seems to avoid us, even when the rest of the country is suffering with storms. On the run up to Camp Bestival, however, I was checking BBC Weather daily and by the time it was ready to pack, it looked increasingly likely that it was going to rain at some point, so we needed to be prepared. We arrived to beautiful sunshine on Thursday and went about exploring the site to see what was on offer… Continue Reading “My Top Ten Tips for beating the rain at a Festival”

Our Family Festival Packing List

With less than a month until Camp Bestival 2017 my thoughts have turned to what we need to pack. We are seasoned Camp Bestival campers with it being our fourth year, but every year we add something to our must pack list, as it does change slightly as the kids get older. Camp Bestival is held at Lulworth, a spectacular site in the heart of Dorset which is very hilly so you have to make an executive decision where you pitch your tent. It is either close to your car or close to the main site and I would recommend… Continue Reading “Our Family Festival Packing List”

A Visit to Car Fest South

Right at the end of the summer we spent our last weekend of freedom at Car Fest South in Hampshire thanks to an invite from Peugeot. As it is less than an hour from home and we had just returned from a holiday abroad we made the decision to travel up to the event on both days, rather than camp. I have always wanted to go to Car Fest, but Hubby is not car mad and was skeptical about a car led event, but we all had the most amazing time. Car Fest is an annual motoring festival held in Cheshire… Continue Reading “A Visit to Car Fest South”

The Big Camp Bestival Linky 2016

Camp Bestival

It is back to earth with a bump after a fabulous weekend at Camp Bestival which more than delivered everything it promised from fun activities to try, great music, scrummy food and rounding it all up with an impressive firework finale. My Camp Bestival linky for 2015 was very popular with lots of people visiting to research the event, so I have decided to put another one together this year as there is so much to see and do that there just isn’t time to fit it all in and everyone has a completely different experience of what Camp Bestival has to… Continue Reading “The Big Camp Bestival Linky 2016”
