A day in London with our Merlin Annual Pass

London Eye rain

During the Easter holiday’s we headed to London for a day out. We are Merlin Annual Pass holders and I made sure I took our passes with us as there is so much to see and do, especially on the South Bank. Our first stop was The Shard View for an event to launch the new film Ferdinand to DVD and as it was an early start, it left us with almost a full day to explore London. From the top of the Shard you can see the London Eye and it didn’t seem like too far to walk, so… Continue Reading “A day in London with our Merlin Annual Pass”

Superhero Takeover at London Zoo

Superhero HQ

On Friday, we were invited to a very special event at London Zoo – the superheroes were taking over!! These are not your typical superheroes though, although we did spy Spiderman by the entrance of ‘In with the Spiders’ exhibit. Instead, from now until Sunday 15th April, visitors to London Zoo are able to take part in a self-guided Superpowers Trail around the Zoo, discovering real life animals with heroic superskills. The kids were given a special comic book as we entered the zoo, packed with fun activities to guide them on this exciting new animal adventure. The booklet has interactive activities at each… Continue Reading “Superhero Takeover at London Zoo”

Zoorassic Park at ZSL London Zoo

Regular readers of my blog will know that Sebastian is dinosaur mad and when we heard that dinosaurs were invading ZSL London Zoo, we knew we had to visit. Between 22nd July to 3rd September, visitors the zoo are whisked back in time to Zoorassic Park a prehistoric world where you can come face to face with life-size, moving dinosaurs. The kids picked up a fun passport style trail to complete before entering the time-travelling tunnel which took us back to the Mesozoic era (about 65 million years ago, give or take a few days). We emerged from the tunnel in… Continue Reading “Zoorassic Park at ZSL London Zoo”

Aladdin – Sheer Genie-Us!

Aladdin

Hubby is getting better a picking up hints now and it only took a couple of mentions about how much I wanted to see Aladdin for him to buy us tickets for my birthday. We headed into London mid-afternoon and had a wander around Covent Garden, watching some of the performers swallowing balloons, riding unicycles and singing and stopping for a bite to eat before heading to the Prince Edward Theatre which is just North of Leicester Square on Old Compton Street. The theatre itself is stunning and has an upstairs bar where you can sit outside on the balcony… Continue Reading “Aladdin – Sheer Genie-Us!”

Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!

Matilda the Musical

Hubby has been hinting that he wanted to see Matilda the Musical for quite some time, so for Christmas I bought us tickets to go and see it at the Cambridge Theatre in London. Apart from the fact that we got a little lost trying to find it, we arrived in plenty of time, getting to take in all the nods to the popular Roald Dahl book throughout the theatre. It was the stage that provided the real “Wow” factor though, as it was covered from floor to ceiling in hundreds of books, spelling out words from the story. Matilda… Continue Reading “Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!”

A Day Out in London with a visit to Sky Garden

During half term we were invited to the Mondrian Hotel for a special Skylanders Academy screening. The screening itself took just a couple of hours, leaving us with plenty of time to explore some of the sights that London has to offer. A few weeks ago we took a sightseeing trip along the Thames with City Cruises and during the onboard commentary they mentioned that there was a FREE alternative to The Shard, where you could see London from above – Sky Garden in Fenchurch Street, affectionately know as the Walkie Talkie. It is important that you book your tickets in… Continue Reading “A Day Out in London with a visit to Sky Garden”

#BrickorTreat at Legoland this half term week

Brick or treat

Last weekend we took our little monsters to LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort and found ourselves getting into the Halloween spirit with their #BrickorTreat event! They had lots of fun spook-tacular activities in the enchanted forest with a fun spooky walk though mist, hay bales and LEGO® characters. There were lots of fun activities on offer including the chance to build your own LEGO® or DUPLO® pumpkin for the giant pumpkin patch, helping to build a huge Monster Mosaic and a spooky colouring tent. Of course, no visit to Legoland Windsor would be complete without trying out some of the rides. Isaac… Continue Reading “#BrickorTreat at Legoland this half term week”
