Easter fun at Sandbanks, Poole

Ice Cream

Lets face it, the weather over the Easter holidays was pretty shabby for most of the country, with rain and even snow for some. We tried not to let it stop us going out and having fun and on one such day, we did battle with the sea mist at Sandbanks beach in Poole. Isaac and his friend were booked onto an activity day at Land & Wave, an activity centre based at Sandbanks which offers school holiday clubs where they get to do activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, jumbo paddle boarding, raft building, sports and team building for children… Continue Reading “Easter fun at Sandbanks, Poole”

Poole Harbour

When people visit the south coast they always think of Bournemouth as the “go to” place to visit, but Poole has lots to offer visitors to the area. Not only does Poole have the second largest natural harbour in the world, second only to Sydney, but it is also home to one of the most expensive places to live in the UK – Sandbanks and has lots to offer visitors, young and old. 1. Visit the Bustling Quay Visit the Old Lifeboat Station Museum and enjoy crabbing on the quayside next door. The Annual Poole New Year’s Day Bath Tub Race 2017

We always try to attend local events, especially those that are raising money for charity and this year we finally got to the annual New Year’s Day Bath Tub Race on Poole Quay. What we were not expecting was the sheer number of people who turned up to watch the race and we struggled to get a good view as our planned location to watch the race was rammed already, but we did manage to find a raised flower bed to stand on to get a view of the race. There were literally thousands of people lining the quayside to… Continue Reading “The Annual Poole New Year’s Day Bath Tub Race 2017”

#SailwithSanta with City Cruises Poole

Last year we enjoyed a rather blustery Santa Cruise with City Cruises Poole and despite the weather doing its best to dampen our spirits we couldn’t wait to do it again this year. Thankfully this year the weather was the complete opposite of last year and Poole Harbour was a millpond when we arrived to Sail with Santa. We were over the moon to be welcomed by Dr Balloonman whom had entertained the kids so brilliantly last year. We collected our complimentary soft drink and cookie for the kids and our mince pie and warming coffee (they also offer a glass of mulled… Continue Reading “#SailwithSanta with City Cruises Poole”

Panto Fun with Aladdin at Lighthouse Poole

He’s Behind You!! Oh no you’re not! Oh Yes we are! Three fun phrases that are bound to get the audience shouting and screaming at a pantomime. I love this time of year and one of the highlights of the year is always taking the kids to the pantomime. This year I got to do two in one week, taking Sebastian to see Cinderella at the Pavilion with pre-school and Eliza and Isaac to see Aladdin at Lighthouse Poole with the school. I am sad to admit that Cinderella was really disappointing. It was far too long, the cast didn’t… Continue Reading “Panto Fun with Aladdin at Lighthouse Poole”
