Staying at La Citadelle at Puy du Fou

La Citadelle

When I visited Puy du Fou for the first time last year, I stayed at Îles de Clovis, which is a middle age lake-side settlement with fifty huts built on stilts, with thatched roofs and half-timbering, that were eco-designed to recreate the authentic ambiance of a village from the Merovingian period. There are five themed hotels to choose from; Le Logis de Lescure – an 18th century lodge, La Citadelle – a medieval castle, Camp du Drap d’Or – a Tudor style encampment that look like opulent tents, La Villa Gallo-Romaine – an ancient Roman villa and The Îles de Clovis. When we… Continue Reading “Staying at La Citadelle at Puy du Fou”

Puy du Fou – what is new for 2019

Medieval Village

Last year I enjoyed a press trip to Puy du Fou with Britmums and loved it so much that I have booked to take Hubby and the kids back to experience all the action in May. As well as all the shows that I saw when I was there, they have invested €28.5m into improving the park entrances and on a new spectacular immersive attraction and I for one cannot wait to see it. Grand-scale new attraction for 2019 – ‘Le Premier Royaume’ 2019 sees the opening of an extraordinary new production, ‘Le Premier Royaume’, which will be located in… Continue Reading “Puy du Fou – what is new for 2019”

La Cinéscénie at Puy Du Fou – Review

La Cinéscénie

Puy du Fou is like no attraction I have even witnessed and, if I am honest, I am still struggling to put into words how awesome it is. The shows are literally ‘out of this world’ and will have you questioning yourself about how they pull off some of their amazing stunts and tricks. There was not one show that didn’t impress me and I loved them all, but throughout our visit we were told “Just wait for La Cinéscénie“. La Cinéscénie costs an extra €27 on top of park admission, although you can get this discounted if you buy it… Continue Reading “La Cinéscénie at Puy Du Fou – Review”

France’s Best Kept Secret – Puy du Fou

Puy du Fou

Last weekend I travelled to Nantes, France with Britmums on a press trip to a little known theme park called Puy Du Fou in Les Epesses. Puy du Fou is France’s best kept secret despite being their second largest theme park, attracting over 2.26m visitors a year. Calling Puy du Fou (pronounced “pwee de foo”) a theme park is actually doing the park a disservice as it is so much more. There are no rides and no tacky merchandise, just pure entertainment in the form of spectacular daytime and evening shows and four period villages. When walking through these villages, you feel like you have… Continue Reading “France’s Best Kept Secret – Puy du Fou”

Staying at Les Iles de Clovis at Puy Du Fou

The Îles de Clovis

When Britmums invited me on a press trip to a little known theme park called Puy Du Fou in Les Epesses, France I was intrigued. Labelled as a theme park and rated as the best in the world, I am still struggling to find the perfect words to describe it, other than “WOW!!”. What Puy Du Fou (pronounced Pwee de Foo) does offer is spectacular, immersive and awe-inspiring shows, rather than rides, that get your heart soaring and spark your emotions and the fun begins as soon as you step into one of their unusual hotels, which promise to send you… Continue Reading “Staying at Les Iles de Clovis at Puy Du Fou”
