When WWE came to Bournemouth

Isaac adores WWE but it has not visited Bournemouth since 2015, until now!

We were invited along to see our favourite wrestling stars at the Bournemouth International Centre on Monday and having been collecting various WWE memorabilia for a couple of years we arrived dressed for the occasion.

The kids could not wait to get inside and see which of their favourite stars would be fighting tonight and were really excited when Shinsuke Nakamura came out, having met him at NXT last year, and the cheers only got louder when he defeated Dolph Ziggler with the Kinshasa.

Next up were Kian’s favourites the Uso’s, who were up against American Alpha and The Colons in a Smackdown Tag Team Title Match.

American Alpha's

Of course the Uso’s won but the we let out the biggest cheer for American Alpha’s as they threw their t-shirts into the crowd and Daddy caught one for Isaac and Eliza – we can get both kids in it, it is so big!!

This was Eliza’s first time at WWE, although she has watched it at home and she was soon stamping her feet, clapping her hands and joining in with the chants from the die-hard WWE fans.

In the next match Luke Harper defeated Erick Rowan with the discus clothesline and then it was time for Isaac’s favourite – Sin Cara.

The format for the matches was very different from the ones we have seen previously and I have to admit that I found some matches difficult to follow as there were six people in the ring instead of just two. The Sin Cara match saw him pair with Breezango, who then defeated Aiden English and The Ascension.

Aiden English loved playing the villain and was taunting the crowd and moaning that he was not happy about being defeated, so offered an open challenge. On came Mojo Rawley who then defeated the very angry Aiden, who then snuck off behind stage very sheepishly.

We were sat just a few rows back from the stage and could see the fights really clearly and the staging was brilliant – pure American-style, high energy entertainment!  Just before half time, Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn in an US Title match by holding the ropes.

The great thing about WWE is that even during half term there is something to do, with re-runs of classic matches being played on the giant screens behind the ring.

The second half started with another roar from the crowds and the first match was an all British affair with the new United Kingdom Championship Match.

Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Mark Andrews defeated Pete Dunne James Drake and Joseph Connors with the Tyler Driver 97.

Finally it was the turn of the ladies and Eliza was super excited that they were fighting for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Becky Lynch

Like the men’s match earlier there were five ladies in the ring, taking it in turns to fight each other, with some spectacular gymnastic-inspired moves.

Charlotte WWE

The match belonged to Naomi, who defeated Carmella, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Natalya to keep the title.

The final match of the night definitely got the biggest cheers and the biggest jeers of the evening. The jeers were reserved for Jinder Mahal who took great delight in taunting the crowd, who simply replied with shouts of “what” back at him as he tried to speak.

Jinder Mahal

I am not sure who drew the biggest cheer out of Randy Orton or AJ Styles – both seemed very popular opponents with the crowd.

The final result, however, saw Randy Orton defeat both Jinder Mahal and A.J Styles for the WWE Championship with his famous RKO on Jinder.

The WWE live tour heads to Brighton next month, before returning to the UK with a brand new tour in November.

  1. I must admit I’ve never really got WWE, but I imagine it is much more entertaining live than on television. It sounds like you all had a great time.
